What is HIDEOUS FICTION?

HIDEOUS FICTION aims to be a monthly podcast featuring horror stories/weird fiction. Contributing authors will have their work narrated by voice actors, and after each story, the authors will have the opportunity to provide one another with feedback. The goal is to improve our writing skills while also entertaining the audience and fostering a sense of communal fiction.

How does HIDEOUS FICTION work?

Each month, contributing authors will receive a prompt to base their story on. Authors may contribute flash fiction of no less than 300 words, or prose no longer than 3000 words. The consistent theme will be horror or “weird fiction,” ranging from straight-up gore to psychological horror, to stories reminiscent of episodes of The Twilight Zone.

Stories submitted to HIDEOUS FICTION will be professionally edited, with authors given ample opportunity to review the edited work before submissions are finalized. Then the stories will be handed off to voice actors, whose pre-recorded narration will be played during the podcast.
