GOP Presidential contestant Donald Trump Signed the no compete pledge, making the GOP do a collective sigh of relief. At least until they realize he is still their best chance at the White House. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34144850
The latest poll by Monmouth University puts Mr Trump way ahead with support from 30% of Republicans, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson running a distant second with 18%. The rest of the Republican pack is trailing far behind, with Jeb Bush currently tied with Texas senator Ted Cruz at 8%
GOP Presidential contestant Ted Cruz instructs thousands of pastors to violate federal law by reading Sunday sermon he wrote http://www.rawstory.com/2015/08/ted-cruz-instructs-thousands-of-pastors-to-violate-federal-law-by-reading-sunday-sermon-he-wrote/
Rowan County Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis has been dominating the news with her bigotry. She was denied her 3rd appeal to the supreme court, refused yet again and has been jailed, since then the county has been issuing same sex wedding licenses, specifically to James Yates and Will Smith Jr. this morning. Let’s hope that she fades into the margins of history.
And in a surprise twist, well not that surprising, in Hamilton County Tennessee, Chancellor Jeffery Atherton denied a divorce request citing the supreme court's gay marriage ruling. Atherton said the Supreme Court must clarify "when a marriage is no longer a marriage." Otherwise, he contended, state courts are impaired from addressing marriage and divorce litigation altogether. He wrote "The conclusion reached by this Court is that Tennesseans have been deemed by the U.S. Supreme Court to be incompetent to define and address such keystone/central institutions such as marriage, and, thereby, at minimum, contested divorces."

The Good:
Peaceful measures. China continues to reduce its standing military. In 1997 they cut 500,000 from their ranks. Then in 2000 another 200,000 and as we touched on in the headlines, their president announced another reduction of 300,000 is in progress, which will bring their standing army to 2 million, the lowest numbers since the cold war ended, China has the second largest military in the world next to the United States http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/03/world/asia/beijing-turns-into-ghost-town-as-it-gears-up-for-military-parade.html
The Bad:
So.. Ted Cruz wrote a sermon, not unlike his father’s dominionist sermons. http://www.rawstory.com/2015/08/ted-cruz-instructs-thousands-of-pastors-to-violate-federal-law-by-reading-sunday-sermon-he-wrote/

The Ugly:
Hungary’s nationalist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, has claimed Europe is in the grip of madness over immigration and refugees, and argued that he was defending European Christianity against a Muslim influx. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/sep/03/migration-crisis-hungary-pm-victor-orban-europe-response-madness
